What To Write About In Your Blog

Blogging, and vlogging (video blogging) are here to stay, and are a really useful way to build your brand, and give your opinions on subjects and matters which affect you and your target audience.
Buy why is writing content for a blog different than writing content for posts on social media?
In my opinion, social media content needs to be more ‘considered’ as you are essentially representing and/or advertising your business.

With a blog however, the process is more open to creative licence. You are more free to write from the heart rather than from the business side of your brain, so it allows your target audience to get to know YOU, and your opinions and feelings on issues, making you instantly more relatable.

So what can you write about? I’m not suggesting that you go completely away from the area of your business and expertise, writing about what you made for tea last night, or your personal opinions on Brexit BUT you can talk about topics which are loosely linked to what you do day to day.
For example, if you are a florist, you don’t necessarily have to talk about flowers everytime you go online.
You can talk about weddings, funerals and occasions. You can talk about interior decor, gardening, traditions and all of those types of things.

However, I have found that the best way to have a never ending supply of blog topics is to think about your business or industry from your client’s point of view. Think about the questions and concerns and comments you hear. Write them all down, and address, discuss and then answer each one in a separate blog post.
For me, I sat and wrote down all the questions people ask me about social media and blogging. One of which is … yes, you guessed it! “What do I write about in my blog?!” and here we are answering the question!

You can guarantee that if one person has asked a question, others will be thinking it too, so answering it in a blog actually helps multiple people at the same time AND it’s there on your site or whenever your blog is posted for reference for them too!
Write down all the questions you’re asked about your business your services, products etc and see how you go on. Good luck!
