My musings and opinions on all the issues that tiny businesses face. From frequently asked questions I come across each week, to hot topics of the moment, if you have a question or issue, you’ll find the answers in this section.

How Lockdown Has Changed Our Businesses

After seven weeks of lockdown in the UK, this is all starting to feel like the norm.
I’ve settled into new routines, and shifted the gears in the business to reflect that.
Initially, I told myself that these were ‘short term measures’ until restrictions were lifted and we could get back to normal - whatever that is.
However, I’ve had time to do a lot of thinking, and reshuffling, and adjusting, and do you know what? I’m not sure I actually want things to go back exactly as they were.

I’ve had to work differently, be even smarter with my time, to make sure I have time for home schooling, then fitting in my own work to keep my business thriving, as well as trying to provide support to the small business who need it.

Before the arrival of Covid19, 80% of my time was spent seeing clients for coaching and training. That has stopped obviously, and I havent jumped in the bandwagon for virtual coaching as it doesn’t suit my methods.

I am an intuitive business mentor, and find that being in someone’s presence and picking up on their energy and body language helps me to guide them to the best outcome. That just can;pt be achieved over the phone or via Zoom etc.
So my time currently is spent mostly creating graphics, logos, workbooks, downloads and websites rather than one to one and group coaching, and I am loving being submerged in that side of the business more, and letting the creativity flow.

This is something that I will be carrying on after the lockdown ends for sure!

Quite a few people I have spoken to recently have said that they too have found that this forced slow down period has enabled them to get to grips with alternative sides of their businesses, which they are really pleased about.

I don’t think I’m alone in wondering just how much ‘normal’ I will go back to ….
