Facebook Professional Profile or Business Page?
With changes to Facebook over the past few months, people have asked me various questions about what they need and why, so I'll ty and outline it here incase anyone else is wondering too. One of those questions is", “Do I need a Professional Account or a Business Page?” Let me try and help …
In the beginning Facebook was a way for friends to stay in touch and share memories and keep on contact - a true 'social' network.
Businesses cottoned on, and got in on the act - and by the time COVID came around, it was pretty much the main source of advertising for businesses, and especially for smaller local businesses.
Newsfeeds became full of businesses and ads popping up.
Whilst we've always been able to remove ads, and change our preferences to some degree, Facebook is very different to how it was in the beginning.
Meta have now released the news that it will be bringing out a Friends Only feed option, which is great if you don't want to see businesses in your newsfeed BUT potentially bad news for those businesses who are trying to gain new customers.
Another change which happened a while ago, but that people aren't fully taking advantage of yet, is the Professional Account mode on personal profiles. Admittedly that isn't for everyone, but if you're like me and a sole tader, then you ARE your business, so it is well worth taking advantage of.
If I post business type posts from my personal profile then my friends will still see my content. Professional accounts can also be monestised, and there are other perks aswell which were previously only available on Pages.
It isn't another separate profile, it enhances your current persoal profile, and is great for sole traders, content creators, public figures and so on.
Have you taken adventage of this function yet?
To turn this mode on:
Go to your Facebook profile.
Below your profile header, click or tap the menu button (…) on the right side.
Click or tap Turn on professional mode.
To confirm, click or tap Turn on and complete the flow.
So do you need a Professional Account OR a business page?
Professional mode allows you to build a public presence as a creator and maintain your personal friends and family experience from one place on Facebook—your profile.
If you want to manage your public presence separately from your personal profile, you can use a Page to create a public presence for an entity, a business or for yourself.
I hope that helps, but any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to help!
