Is Pinterest Good For Small Businesses?
Pinterest isn’t actually a social media platform, it’s more of a search engine where you can get in front of potential customers who are ready and in the right frame of mind to purchase whatever you’re selling. it’s a platform which I feel is overlooked in favour of the bigger hitters of Facebook and Instagram, but Pinterest should really be on your list as a small business. Here are some of the questions I’m regularly asked about Pinterest for small businesses:
Who Uses Pinterest?
Pinterest is one of the largest website drivers in the world, meaning that people are directed to websites from the listings, or pins, on Pinterest. People use Pinterest for research, the majority are females, and come from all over the world. Pinterest is also used by many generations, so you won’t be restricted to certain age groups either! The chances are that your chosen demographic are on there and waiting for you!
What Are The Benefits Of Pinterest For Small Businesses
One of the biggest benefits is that Pinterest reduces the number of steps between seeing the ad/ pin, and actually getting them to your relevant website page.
Each pin can AND SHOULD BE linked to a relevant product or service. Because you will have so many links back to your website after using Pinterest, your website traffic will increase immensely too.
It’s a visual platform, so you don’t have to sit for hours creating witty content!
You can reach new audiences and people you wouldn't otherwise find. People who may not actually be on other social media platforms.
Pinterest is a positive place - people use this to search for ways to improve themselves, their homes and their lifestyles. It’s not a place for conversation, arguments or negativity, so it’s a great place to be spending your marketing time!
Pinterest is also known for keeping users on there for longer than any other platform. Try it yourself, and see how the minutes turns to hours! During that time they could be discovering you!
Make sure you have created a business account, don’t worry it’s free! Or you can convert your personal account.
How Many Pins Should I Post?
Pins are not shown in chronological order, they are evergreen and will be shown to people through relevance, so they never really date. Avid Winners create 25-50pins every day, but if you’re just starting out if you can manage a couple a day that will give you a good start and something to build from.
Try to be consistent and get in the habit of planning your pins every day.
Which Topics are Popular On Pinterest?
Home improvement, crafts, hobbies and lifestyle have always been popular, but pretty much anything goes. If you can search for it, it’ll be on Pinterest!
Should I Pay For Adverts On Pinterest?
I always advise people NOT to pay for adverts on any social media until you have a decent following snd a real idea of what you’re doing otherwise you’re throwing your money away. Once you have a good idea of what you’re doing and more importantly what’s working and what’s not, then you can invest a little into some paid pins to boost your efforts.
How Do I Know If Pinterest Will Work For Me?
Until you try then you won’t know. Once you start to use Pinterest, you’ll be able to see your statistic, similar to Meta’s Insights, and you’ll easily see which pins have worked best for you.
If you’ve never tried Pinterest for marketing your business, then you could be really missing out.
