What's The Point Of Facebook Stories?

Facebook Stories appear on the top of your newsfeed (or on the top right hand side for Desktop users) and act as the headlines for your feed.

The Stories feature allows users to share photos, videos, and animations that disappear after 24 hours, and the interaction comes through Messenger, or through emoji reactions, rather than comments. Due to the limited time the content is available for, there is more of an urgency for your audience to actually view the stories you put out there, and ‘Fear Of Missing Out’ is a powerful motivator in the world of marketing.

Since it’s launch in early 2017, Facebook Stories has had increasing attention and viewing figures, and in Facebook’s Q1 2018 Earning Report, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, “Stories is a big part of the future of video sharing, which is why we’re all in on it across our family.” So the upshot is that if you’re in business, you need to get to grips with Stories.

Stories are expected to overtake newsfeed sharing in the very near future, and also provide a way to bypass the algorithm which determines which content and posts are seen by viewers. There is also a paid Stories promotion feature coming up soon rumour has it, which will add even more kudos.

So, the point of Facebook Stories, is to give you a FREE and easy way of capturing your audience’s attention without vying for attention in the regular newsfeed, so it’s something you should definitely start putting into practice!
